Land

Molotov and Bricks is located on the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwach’an Council. We respect the Yukon’s 14 First Nations, as well as the 8 trans-border nations that have traditional territory in the Yukon, as the original stewards of this land where we live and do business. We are deeply grateful for our many First Nations and Inuit clients from across the Circumpolar North for trusting us with your tattooing projects, for your friendship, your gifts, and for your stories. It is truly an honour.

We encourage our clients to learn about the traditions of this land, historical and present, and to support our First Nation and Inuit neighbours, clients, and friends. One place to start is with the Council of Yukon First Nations website, where you can find links to the websites of self-governing Yukon First Nations, and read the Umbrella Final Agreement.

Traditional tattooing

First Nation and Inuit people across the north have a long tradition of tattooing that predates colonization. If you are an Indigenous person looking for traditional tattoos in Whitehorse we encourage you to contact the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre, who regularly have guest artists come and tattoo in their space, to see if they have anyone scheduled. We do not currently have anyone working in the shop who does traditional face tattooing.

Policy on using Indigenous imagery

We are happy to tattoo traditional artwork from the Yukon and beyond if you have permission from the artist and permission to have it tattooed. We may ask for proof.
